Research and development of music information processing technology

I am involved in the research and development of music information processing technology.
In particular, I am working on AI music ensemble technology that will allow AI to perform together with people, and technology that predicts musical metadata – such as beats – from musical acoustic signals. I also interact with customers at experience-based installations and hold discussions at universities and with artists, to see how people are actually using the technologies we create in the real world.
For example, I am involved in the operation of AI music ensemble technology that performs with top-level orchestras and violinists, and the creation and operation of systems that provide fun experiences for those who are new to musical instruments (Project Sekai Piano, Duet with YOO, etc.).
I think that research and development at Yamaha is an interesting environment not only for basic R&D, but also for using technology to seriously think about what kind of value we can provide to our customers in order to bring excitement to music.
In addition, since there are experts here from almost all areas of business and research related to sound and music, we can enjoy working on unique applications across a variety of disciplines, which amplifies the fun in unexpected ways.
