High-speed ISDN became available in 1997, not long after the 1994 launch of the commercial internet over analog telephone lines.
This created a Wild West-like situation for dial-up routers, and we entered the fray with the NetVolante RTA50i, our ISDN-compatible, combination telephone/internet device.
When we released the product in 1998, we billed it as a “fittingly Yamaha-esque” “compact, affordable all-in-one telephone/internet device.”
