This advertisement is aimed at young people whose life as students was spent during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is precisely because the Yamaha brand has gathered people through musical instruments and motorcycles that we can now convey this message.

My study at university coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, which meant that I spent a great deal of time by myself. Going to school, holding parties, getting together with others… there were restrictions on everything. Now that the pandemic has eased, I don’t know what to say when I want to get together with other people. That really is how I feel.

Although it was sad that people stopped holding events, it made me aware of the importance of casual gatherings such as the laid-back conversations we have after school, and I think it was musical instruments and motorcycles that brought us together. I find it too embarrassing to be up-front about telling people merely that I want to meet them, but felt that I would be fine with inviting people to play music or go for a ride.

I created an honest depiction of the real feelings of students, including myself. I also used a layout that takes advantage of the characteristics of a full-page magazine spread.
This image has been created so that the first things you see when you open the magazine are the instruments and the motorcycle, and then you notice the people gathering. This composition is intended to convey how connections are formed, stemming from the instruments and motorcycle.

Furthermore, the central figure is placed so that they overlap with the page fold and is obscured, making it easier for the viewer to visualize themselves in the scene rather than focusing on any particular person.
