Electone/1959

The debut model of the Yamaha "Electone" electronic organ, with a name created by joining the words "Electronic" and "Tone."
In contrast to then-common practice of using vacuum tubes in its electronic circuitry, transistors comprise all of the Electone's circuits, other than those used in the main amplifier.
This Electone comes complete with an upper and lower keyboard, a pedalboard, an expression pedal and a knee-operated sustain lever. It was a groundbreaking digital instrument that enabled players to create voices by mixing various sounds using switches known as tone levers.
