Tokyo Pride 2026: Expanding the circle of “what we love” over two days

On June 6 and 7, 2026, Yamaha Corporation participated in Tokyo Pride 2026 held at Yoyogi Park, Tokyo. The Employee Resource Group (ERG), Yamaha Rainbow ERG ~LGBTQ+ & ALLY Community~, set up a booth display and walked in the parade.

Tokyo Pride, one of Asia’s largest LGBTQ+ events, is held over two days and drew around 270 thousand people in 2026. Corporations, organizations, and government bodies featured a wide range of content. The Yamaha booth, which attracted a large number of people, focused on creating connections through hands-on experiences.

This report explores our fourth year participating in the event since 2023.

The 2026 booth: Creating connections and harmony through “what we love”

The concept of our booth this year was “Share ‘what you love’ on a musical note. Let your message weave us all together.” We wanted people to know and feel that Yamaha is there for them, placing importance on connecting them through what they love. Adopting a subtle approach, we aimed at creating a space where people from diverse backgrounds could interact in a free and easy way.

The display had two main themes.

Connect and play: A message about “what you love”

We designed our hands-on booth in a way that the messages everyone wrote describing what they love became a musical score when overlapped like the votive plaques commonly found at Shinto shrines.

Visitors wrote what they love on cards shaped like musical notes and hung them on five wires strung to look like a musical score. We anticipated that as people hung their cards, they would read other messages that resonated with them in a positive way and find kinship in the thoughts and feelings of others.

The booth successfully distributed all of the 1,260 pre-prepared cards by the afternoon of the second day.

Diverse genres and colors: Freely enjoying musical instruments and devices

Yamaha musical instruments and devices were displayed for anyone to experience the joy of sound and music. The rainbow guitar, which was specially designed for last year’s booth, and a pure white piano, which denotes a neutral, absence of color, attracted a great deal of attention.

The booth incorporated a wide, colorful range of Yamaha products from our many divisions for people to enjoy any way they liked. Some played sounds. Some sang. Others had their photos taken while pretending to be musicians. Everyone related to the products in a way that matched their own sensibilities.

Some of the many warm comments we received over the two days included “I lost all sense of time,” “I want to start playing an instrument again,” “I saw the Yamaha logo and came straight here,” and “I’m so glad to see Yamaha here.”

Tokyo Pride 2026 is the second time the Yamaha Rainbow ERG has planned and operated the Yamaha booth, and over the two days of the event, the employees who participated learned and experienced much about a society that embraces diversity.

Yamaha Group regards diversity as a source of value creation and is committed to nurturing a corporate culture in which everyone can work while being true to themselves.

Since 2019, the Human Resources Division has taken the lead in efforts to improve our corporate environment by fostering an understanding of LGBTQ+ issues and creating allies. As part of this initiative, Yamaha has cooperated with Tokyo Pride since 2021 and has held a booth for four consecutive years since 2023.

In 2025, employees launched the Yamaha Rainbow ERG and organized the Yamaha booth at Tokyo Pride that year with assistance from volunteer employees. Thanks to this kind of bottom-up activity, combined with our corporate policy, Yamaha Rainbow ERG has grown to become a group of over 15 members, and with additional employees helping as volunteers, there were a total of 39 people operating the booth during Tokyo Pride in 2026. This works to expand our network of relationships inside and outside the group.

The Yamaha Group will continue efforts to use the power of music as a way of bringing people together, no matter their differences, and aspire to create an inclusive society in which people with diverse backgrounds can freely participate.
