Yamaha Introduces Compact Grand Piano GCB
Authentic quality delivering a true grand piano experience
HAMAMATSU, Japan ― Yamaha Corporation today announced the launch of the GCB, a new compact grand piano that combines authentic grand piano performance with a compact design.
The newly released GCB is the smallest model in the GC Series, offering the rich resonance and expressive power that define a Yamaha grand piano. Built upon the concept of the GC Series, which inherits the design philosophy of the Yamaha C Series grand pianos that have earned global trust for over half a century, each GCB is meticulously crafted at Yamaha’s Kakegawa Factory in Japan. Despite its compact size, it achieves exceptional performance, delivering rich resonance and a delicate touch. The lineup also includes options to meet a variety of needs, including different color finishes, a SILENT Piano™ model with a muting function, and a Disklavier™ model that offers a wide range of automated performance content for an expanded listening experience*. Yamaha aims to make the grand piano experience more accessible, bringing the joy of playing to a wide range of customers, from hobbyists to those advancing their musical skills.
“The rich resonance and delicate touch of a grand piano are among its greatest appeals,” said Yutaka Matsuki, senior general manager of Piano Division. “However, owning a grand piano can be challenging for some people due to limitations in living environments and lifestyles. With the GCB, our goal was to make the grand piano more accessible without compromising on performance or quality. To achieve this, we brought together the design expertise we have accumulated over many years and the craftsmanship of our Kakegawa Factory. Through the GCB, we hope to bring the joy of playing a Yamaha grand piano to even more people.”

Key Features
1. Rich resonance and delicate touch in a compact size
Despite being Yamaha's smallest grand piano in the company’s current lineup, with a compact footprint measuring just 151 cm in depth and 147 cm in width, the GCB delivers rich resonance and depth, along with excellent control for drawing out its full potential. Based on the design philosophy passed down from the highly trusted Yamaha C Series to the GC Series, the GCB features a back post structure that efficiently projects string vibrations throughout the body, as well as a precision action designed for excellent responsiveness. While compact enough to blend naturally into living spaces, it allows players to enjoy a truly authentic grand piano experience.
2. Reliable quality crafted at Yamaha Kakegawa Factory in Japan, built on more than 120 years of piano-making expertise
Each GCB is carefully crafted one by one at Yamaha’s Kakegawa Factory in Japan. This factory, which builds all Yamaha grand pianos including the flagship CFX full concert grand piano, draws on more than 120 years of piano-making techniques and expertise accumulated since grand piano production began in 1902. The GCB's beautiful tone and delicate playing feel are made possible by the skills of experienced craftspeople who carefully assess the unique characteristics of each material, supported by state-of-the-art production technology.
