Yamaha Launches “Guitar Tuner” and “METRONOME” Apps
− Designed to engage with players and enrich the instrument-playing experience −
Hamamatsu, Japan ― Yamaha Corporation (hereinafter, Yamaha) develops and provides Music Utility Apps to help instrumentalists create a more comfortable environment for playing, both before performances and during practice. As part of this initiative, starting in March, Yamaha launched the “Guitar Tuner” app, which allows easy tuning on a smartphone, and the “METRONOME” app, which can be used for practicing a wide range of instruments.
“With the launch of Guitar Tuner and METRONOME, we aim to support musicians at every stage of their playing journey―from beginners taking their first steps to experienced players refining their performance,” said Shoji Mita, senior general manager of the Music Connect Division. “By making high-quality, easy-to-use tools available on smartphones, we hope to encourage more frequent practice and deepen everyday engagement with music.”
Key Features of “Guitar Tuner”
This app features simple controls that let users start tuning immediately, along with an intuitive display that uses a large gauge to show pitch differences at a glance. When the pitch is correct, audio and visual cues clearly indicate it, allowing even beginners who have just started playing guitar to tune with confidence.
- Quick: Fast startup and simple controls that allow users to start tuning immediately upon opening the app
- Easy to read: A large gauge display makes pitch differences visible at a glance
- Precise tuning: Sound and animation clearly indicate when the pitch is correct

Music support app
In addition to the newly launched apps “Guitar Tuner” and “METRONOME,” Yamaha develops and provides a range of music support apps that assist instrumentalists in their daily practice and performances.
Released last year, “Extrack” allows users to play along with their favorite songs as if they were part of a band, offering features such as adjusting the volume of each instrument part during playback, displaying chord progressions, and changing tempo and key to support a wide range of practice needs.
By encouraging the everyday use of these tools before performances and during practice, Yamaha aims to expand engagement with customers and deliver a more fulfilling instrument-playing experience.
