Yamaha Music Innovations Begins Technical Verification for Utilizing AI-Powered Sample Generator to Support Creators
Limited hands-on experience of generative AI feature integration into SEQTRAK app at NAMM Show
Hamamatsu, Japan ― Yamaha Music Innovations (hereinafter “YMI”), a US subsidiary of Yamaha Corporation (hereinafter “Yamaha”), positions generative AI as “a partner that accompanies and supports people in expressing creativity,” and aims to develop innovative music experiences. Following the Yamaha Group AI Usage Policy for Sound and Music, which prioritizes safety, transparency and rights protection, Yamaha will collaborate with Boomy Corporation (hereinafter “Boomy”), known for its expertise in generative AI sound samples. They will initiate technical testing to incorporate generative AI features into Yamaha’s music creation app, SEQTRAK. As an initial step in this technical verification, creators will have hands-on experience at The 2026 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, from January 22-24, 2026.

SEQTRAK is an all-in-one gear that combines various sounds, including drums synths and more, to enable intuitive music creation. In addition to its preset options, creators can easily add new sound samples through the dedicated app by integrating generative AI. This allows Yamaha to offer a new music production experience that expands creators’ inspiration.
In recent years, generative AI has quickly become prominent in music production. While many services produce complete songs, few have succeeded in creating high-quality sound samples for music creation. Boomy’s advanced technical capabilities in this area and its philosophy of “generative AI for creators” align with Yamaha’s belief in “generative AI to support creation.”
This initiative seeks to use generative AI as a creative tool, empowering creators and expanding its production options. Yamaha will evaluate the feasibility by determining whether to offer this as an app feature, while proceeding with its technical evaluation and verification for implementation with Boomy. Furthermore, Yamaha will identify opportunities for the creative use of generative AI and contribute to the sustainable growth of music culture by leveraging insights from this verification.
