The first Yamaha X-amp came equipped with the X-power supply that achieved a high output of 200 W+200 W (8Ω, 20 Hz—20 kHz, 0.003%THD) despite the compact and lightweight design.
The X-power supply's high efficiency and low heat generation freed power amps from the huge transformers and heat sinks of the past. The unique aluminum die-cast pyramid design was iconic.
