Yamaha Group AI Usage Policy for Sound and Music
The Yamaha Group believes that sound and music have the power to connect humans and help them achieve the “Well-Being of People around the World” and we consider AI to be a partner that will further expand such horizons. At the same time, we acknowledge that AI can have various effects on society and people. We strive to respect all the rights related to the creation of sound and music, and to enhance the satisfaction of all stakeholders. To this end, we have established this AI Usage Policy for Sound and Music as a guide for our AI-related research and AI application to our products and services. All Yamaha Group officers and employees shall pursue AI-related research and its application to our products and services in accordance with this policy, thereby contributing to the sustainable growth of the music culture.
1. AI & Humans Working in Harmony
The Yamaha Group believes that AI will not replace humans in the creation of sound and music. AI will rather accompany each individual in expressing creativity and will be utilized responsibly to support creating the moments of “making waves.” We consider it essential that AI exists alongside humans and are committed to creating value based on the principle of “AI & Humans Working Together in Harmony.”
2. Offering Safe and Secure Products and Services
The Yamaha Group acknowledges the dangers caused by malicious attacks targeting AI and unexpected output bias. Through our ongoing efforts to ensure AI security and fairness, we will strive to provide AI products and services that all stakeholders can use safely and with security.
3. Respecting Stakeholders’ Rights
The Yamaha Group acknowledges that various rights (including intellectual property rights) sometimes exist in the information and data utilized for AI learning. We respect all the rights that contribute to music creation with AI, the intention of the rights-holders and the stakeholders’ rights to create new value together. To achieve this, we will strive to communicate with stakeholders.

The Yamaha Group believes that AI will expand the horizons of sound and music. We will continuously engage in research and development in AI and appropriately utilize and share its outcomes to accelerate innovation in the music industry through the delivery of new music experiences and the exchange of technology, knowledge, and humans. Thereby we will continue to contribute to the balanced growth of music culture.

The Yamaha Group will strive to ensure transparency throughout the lifecycle of AI products and services and to provide information on the potential impact on stakeholders.
6. Complying with Laws, Regulations, and International Norms
The Yamaha Group will comply with the laws, regulations, and international norms of each country and region and strive to fulfill its responsibility as a corporate citizen, such as ensuring fair competition in the markets and paying due regard to the global environment in its AI-related research and application in its products and services.
7. Protecting Privacy
The Yamaha Group will strive to protect customer’s privacy when collecting and using customers’ data in relation to AI products and services, establishing appropriate data handling systems in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
8. Establishing AI Governance and Fostering AI Literacy
For fulfilling this policy, the Yamaha Group will establish and manage the AI governance process and strive to foster the literacy to make proper use of AI, so that all stakeholders engaged in music creation can enjoy its benefits.
