Why is Yamaha involved in forestry?
Yamaha uses around 70 kinds of wood from all around the world. We procure approximately 80,000m³ per year, principally from Southeast Asia, North America, and Europe. Most of these woods have been carefully selected for making musical instruments, and some of them are only used for that purpose. What should we do if we want to continue to use wood that sounds and looks beautiful for musical instruments? One of the answers to this question lies in the sustainable forests that are is the goal of Otonomori activities. As the only manufacturer that produces such a wide variety of musical instruments, the essence of Yamaha's forest conservation is enabling us to sustainably utilize the materials we want to use, where we want to use them, and to enrich future society.
