DAREDEMO PIANO (AUTO-ACCOMPANIED PIANO)

Experience some of the exciting features of Daredemo Piano (Auto-Accompanied Piano) app by using the beta version.

INTRODUCING THE DAREDEMO PIANO APP, BETA VERSION

Experience the joy of playing music with this app, which automatically plays accompaniment to the melody you play on the piano. To further enhance the experience, we are currently making improvements to this app (beta version) based on feedback from our users before the official release.

FEATURES

When you play the melody, the accompaniment naturally adjusts to your tempo and dynamics, allowing you to enjoy playing at your own pace—regardless of your skill level, experience, or age.
How does the accompaniment help your playing?

It pauses and waits until you play the correct note.
It gradually ramps up or down to your tempo.
It dynamically changes in volume to match your expression, enhancing your performance.

HOW TO USE

How to Connect

For connecting to an instrument with a USB to HOST port or MIDI port, please refer to the "Smart Device Connection Manual for iPhone/iPad" and follow the connection instructions.

Connection Using Bluetooth^®

Turn on the instrument and enable the Bluetooth^® function.
*For details, please refer to the instruction manual included with the instrument.
Launch the app.

① The message "MIDI I/O device is not set." will appear. (In some cases, the song list may be displayed instead.)

② Tap "Open Device Settings" to access the settings screen.

③ Tap "Not Connected" to initiate the connection.

④ Once the connection is complete, the display will change from "Connecting" to "Connected".

Playing the Instrument

Playing Screen Description

① You can select a song to play from the song list.

② You can configure the display settings for the keyboard.

③ To help you identify the playing range, a light gray rectangle is displayed on the screen. Within this range, a yellow dot indicates the position of "Middle C." (In the example above, the yellow dot is at the left edge of the light gray rectangle, meaning the "C" played in this position is one octave higher than Middle C.)

④ The keys for C and G are color-coded for easier identification.
C: Red
G: Blue

⑤ When this toggle is turned ON, only the accompaniment data will play (the playing will progress even if you do not play the melody).

⑥ Play Button: Starts playback of the audio.

⑦ You can adjust the tempo of the accompaniment data. Tap "0" to reset it to the default tempo.

How to Play

① Song Selection
Tap "Song List" to display the song list and select a song to play.

Once selected, you will return to the playing screen.

② Play
Tap the Play button to start the intro (accompaniment-only playback).
For some songs, there is no intro, and the song starts with the melody part (e.g., My Grandfather’s Clock, Pomp and Circumstance March, Für Elise, Nocturne, and Ave Maria). In these cases, the song starts when you play the key with a black dot.

The next note to play is shown as a black dot on the app's keyboard. Play the same note on your instrument.
The note after the next is displayed in light gray and turns into a black dot when it's time to play.

Various Settings

① Tap the gear icon in the upper right of the app to open the settings screen.

② Instrument Type
*DKV: On Disklavier ENSPIRE with firmware version 5.20.01 or later, the keyboard guide function indicates the notes the user should play, similar to SmartKey.
(However, pressing the on-screen keyboard in this state will send a signal to turn off the guide function, causing the keys to return immediately as a side effect.)
*EZ: The lighted key function of the EZ-300 can be used.
*OLD: This is a setting option for older models. (This is compatible with many instruments, but operations such as setting the sound to piano must be done manually on the instrument.)

③ Additionally, tapping on "Advanced Settings" allows you to set the following options.

④ DKV Timing
If you are using Yamaha's Disklavier™, please set this to ON. It adjusts the playing timing to account for mechanical delay.

⑤ Tempo Tracking Sensitivity
Normally, set this to "1.0." If you feel it follows too closely and find it distracting, set it to "0.0" to disable tempo tracking.

⑥ Thru MIDI-IN to OUT
Turn this ON when using a remote setup to play another instrument or when setting the played instrument to Local OFF.
This feature ensures that the pedal functions correctly when playing a digital piano manually, even if the pedal does not initially respond.
However, the digital piano must be set to "Local OFF" for this function to work properly (the setting method varies by model).

⑦ Octave Tolerance
The system will respond even if the user plays a note one octave higher or lower than the intended note.

⑧ Display Notes Other Than the Next to Be Played
When set this to ON, both the next note and expected note will be displayed.
When set this to OFF, only the next note will be displayed.

⑨ Change How the Next Note Is Displayed
You can choose how the next note is displayed by selecting either “1” or “2.”

The default setting is “1,” where a gray circle animates and changes into a large black circle when it reaches the front.
If you select “2,” the black circle appears first, followed by the gray circle overlapping it through an animation.

Try out both options and choose the one that best suits your preference.

How to Load MIDI Songs

With the Daredemo Piano app, you can play not only the songs included in the app but also your own MIDI files.
Follow the steps below to load an external MIDI file into the app:

Import MIDI Files into the App

①Prepare a MIDI file
Save a .mid file to your iPhone or iPad.

②Open the file
Use the Files app or open it from your browser’s download history.

③Tap the “Share” icon
Tap the share icon usually shown in the lower-left corner of the screen.

Check and Play Imported Songs in the App

①Select “Daredemo Piano” as the sharing destination
From the list of sharing options, choose the “Daredemo Piano” app.

②Confirm the file has been added to “Imported Songs”
Go to the song selection screen in the app and tap “Imported Songs.”
The MIDI file you just added will be listed and ready to play.

The use of the Daredemo Piano (Auto-Accompanied Piano) app beta version (hereinafter referred to as "the app") is granted to customers who agree to the TestFlight End User License Agreement, the End User License Agreement for the app, and the Privacy Policy. Please download the app after agreeing to the terms.

Privacy Policy

This app is a beta version primarily released for technical validation and service experimentation purposes. The specifications may change without prior notice. As the app is still under development, it may cause certain issues or malfunctions. We are not responsible for any damages, except in cases of intentional or gross negligence on our part.
We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to use the app accordingly.

We will continue to make improvements based on the feedback from all those who use the app.
All rights, including copyright and neighboring rights, to the sound data provided in the app are owned by Yamaha Corporation or its licensors. The use of this sound data by users is limited to the app only, and any other use (including but not limited to usage outside the app, redistribution to third parties, reproduction, performance, public transmission, display, modification, adaptation, translation, etc.) is strictly prohibited.

System Requirements

The app is a service that plays accompaniment tracks in sync with the user's performance. The following environment is required for use.

iPhone/iPad (iOS or iPadOS 14.0 or later)
An electronic piano/keyboard with Bluetooth^® functionality, a MIDI port, or a USB to HOST port for connection with the app.
*If connecting via the MIDI port to an iPhone/iPad, a wireless MIDI adapter is required.

How to Download

① Click the "Download Here" button.
② The download link will appear. Access it from your iPhone/iPad and download the "TestFlight" app.
③ Click a further link to download the Daredemo Piano (Auto-Accompanied Piano) app beta version.

Note:: This is a beta version of the app distributed by Yamaha via TestFlight.
TestFlight beta builds expire after up to 90 days. When the beta period ends and the app is no longer available, please update or reinstall it via the TestFlight app to continue using it.

FAQ

Cannot connect via Bluetooth^®.

Make sure the instrument is turned on.
Make sure that "Bluetooth^®" is set to "On" in the instrument's settings.
If you did not allow microphone and Bluetooth^® access when launching the app for the first time, Bluetooth^® will not work. Please enable the permissions in iPhone/iPad [Settings] → [Daredemo Piano (Auto-Accompanied Piano)IOS].
Turn off the instrument and then turn it back on.
Close the app and restart it.

Cannot connect via Bluetooth^® (MD-BT01).

No sound from the instrument.

Check the instrument's volume.
If using a Bluetooth^® connection, check the "BLE MIDI Device Settings" to ensure the instrument is connected. If using a wired connection, make sure the cable is securely connected.
Please check the instrument's settings to ensure it is set to receive MIDI events on all channels. Refer to the instrument's manual for instructions on how to check this setting.
Try setting the instrument type to "OLD" from the app settings screen.
If you still cannot hear the music after trying the above steps, there may be an issue with the cable or connection ports.

The accompaniment is not playing from the iPhone/iPad.

The accompaniment gradually slows down or speeds up while playing.

The accompaniment stopped unexpectedly.

Which operating systems are supported?

I see a message stating “Beta Has Expired” and can no longer open the app.

The Daredemo Piano app is a beta version distributed by Yamaha via TestFlight. Each beta build is available for testing for up to 90 days from the date it was uploaded. Once the beta period expires, the app becomes unusable.
Before you start using the app, you can check the remaining testing days under the app name in TestFlight

How to resolve this:

Open the TestFlight app on your iPhone or iPad.
Find Daredemo Piano in the list of installed beta apps.
Tap Update (if the app was already installed) or Install (if reinstalling).
→ This will install the latest build and restore app usage.

Important:

Do not delete the app, as doing so may cause you to lose your settings or usage history.
If you don’t see an Install button, it means a new beta build hasn’t been released yet—please wait for the developer to publish the update.

There are issues that remain unresolved even after trying the above solutions.
