Yamaha Unveils New Electric Guitar Model Developed in Collaboration with Chris Buck: Chris Buck Signature REVSTAR RS02CB

Hamamatsu, Japan ― Yamaha Corporation announces the launch of the Chris Buck Signature REVSTAR RS02CB electric guitar.

The REVSTAR series has been inspired by café racer motorcycles, Japanese artisanship and cultural heritage since its debut in 2015, followed by the launch of its second generation in 2022.

Internationally acclaimed guitarist Chris Buck is known for his fluid touch and soulful expression ― a style he has built around the Yamaha REVSTAR. The RS02CB was developed in close collaboration with Chris Buck to faithfully reproduce the sound and feel of his custom REVSTAR. Featuring P90 style pickups tuned to his preferences, a wrap-around bridge, a chambered body and a carbon-reinforced neck, it achieves the unique tone, resonance and balance that characterize his playing.

“My custom shop REVSTAR has been the beating heart of every record I’ve made and every show I’ve played since I first laid hands on it in 2020,” said Chris Buck. “It hasn’t left my side and has quite literally travelled the globe with me, from Cairo to California. The phrase ‘labour of love’ gets thrown around a little too often these days, but collaborating so closely with Yamaha to recreate my guitar over the past few years has been exactly that. I am beyond thrilled to finally see it come to life. As much as it may be based on my guitar, this one’s yours.”

At the heart of the RS02CB is a specially voiced P90 style pickup, developed closely with Chris.

“There’s honestly nothing better than the sound of a great P90 style pickups ― dynamic, responsive, and the truest conduit between the acoustic resonance of the guitar and its electric voice,” he says.

By refining coil windings and magnet selection, the pickup is tuned for slightly lower output, allowing a clear, detailed response at lower volumes and a strong, open tone when driven. This gives the instrument a wide, natural range that reflects the player’s touch.

Using Yamaha’s exclusive acoustic design process, the RS02CB’s chambered body enhances tone while reducing weight, and a carbon-reinforced neck adds strength and stability. The result is a guitar that is perfectly balanced, resonant, and built for the stage.

The RS02CB features a wraparound bridge, carried over from Chris’s original custom model. Its direct string-to-body design maximizes resonance and sustain, giving players the same organic response that Chris relies on for every gig.

The RS02CB reflects Chris Buck’s own custom REVSAR: Honey Gold finish, amber hat knobs and stylish inlays. His signature on the back of the headstock marks his personal connection to the instrument ― a guitar that has travelled the world with him.
