MICHAEL ANTHONY GRACED THE PAGES of the premiere edition of All Access when he was the bassist and harmony-maker for Van Halen. In 2000, we were debuting his first signature Yamaha bass: the BB3000MA. In 2009, almost a decade later, we wanted to feature Michael again, only this time his name would be associated with a new rock band, the buzzworthy supergroup Chickenfoot. We photographed him at what he refers to as his storage facility. While it may technically be a storage facility, it's definitely not your typical version. It houses all of his babies: vintage hot rods, custom basses, and a gigantic RV that he and his family take on camping trips. Needless to say there were plenty of props and backgrounds to play with to create some amazing Michael Anthony-inspired photography. The best photographs ended up being the last shots of the day, when Michael rolled his candy apple red Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad outside and proudly posed in front with his newly designed Chickenfoot inspired bass. Two hours and lots of laughs later, the shoot wrapped, and Michael handed out Chickenfoot guitar pics to the crew and offered up his favorite Mexican restaurant recommendation in the area.
