  removeable media
Devices used to store digital or analog information, which are not permanently attached to the device using them (such as a computer, electronic musical instrument, or tape recorder). This allows for transportation of the data to other locations, without the need to move the original device. Different types of removeable media include casette tape, reel-to-reel tape, DAT, CD, Zip® cartridge, or Jaz® cartridge. A hard drive in a computer is a type of fixed media.
