Robert Schaer's Biography

Rob Schaer is a freelance trumpet performer and arranger in the Los Angeles area. He began performing on the streets of Disney World in Orlando, Florida when he was 17 years old. From there, he earned his Bachelor of Music Degree at the University of Central Florida under the tutelage of John Almeida. Rob finished a Doctorate in Musical Arts in 2008 from the University of Southern California with Boyde Hood and Don Green. Rob has been influenced by many great teachers including Wayne Bergeron, Charley Davis, Lyman Brodie and Bobby Shew.

To date, Rob has many recording credits to his name, including several big band albums and television/motion picture soundtracks. He has had the privilege of performing and recording with a wide variety of artists such as Clare Fisher, John Williams, Paul Anka, Patti Austin, Frankie Valli, Frank Sinatra Jr, Dancing with the Stars, Family Guy, American Dad, Jimmy Kimmel “Live,” The Los Angeles Philharmonic, LA Opera, America’s Got Talent, The GRAMMY Awards, The Academy Awards, Galavant, Agent Carter and Disney’s animated Zootopia.

Rob performs with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, where he holds the Principal Trumpet position.

Rob has arranged and conducted for many projects both in and outside of Los Angeles. He continues to work as a clinician for high school band programs around the country.
