Yamaha Gear Used On The ABC Reality Show The One

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 25, 2006) — Yamaha is helping ABC discover the next great talent in the new reality series The One: Making a Music Star, airing tonight at 9 p.m. ET. Yamaha is the major supplier of gear the aspiring artists are using in their especially designed music academy outfitted with Yamaha pianos, keyboards, guitars, drums, speakers, consoles, brass and string instruments, and much more. A complete list follows.

The show features a behind-the-scenes look at contestants living and training together in Los Angeles in hopes of winning a major recording contract with Interscope/Geffen/A&M Label Group. The participants are training with some of the most well-respected professionals in the music industry.

"It was important to outfit our 20,000 square foot music academy with state-of-the-art instruments and recording equipment. Yamaha met our needs across the board, from pianos and guitars to brass instruments and drums, to monitors and mixing consoles. The list includes nearly $350,000 worth of equipment. To prepare for their live performances, the contestants train with top-notch professionals providing invaluable instruction in vocal coaching, choreography, image consulting, fitness training and more. The experts featured include songwriter, artist and vocal producer Kara DioGuardi; music producer and executive Andre Harrell; songwriter, vocal director, musician and producer Mark Hudson; vocal coach Roger Love; choreographer Tina Landon; stylist Jennifer Rade; piano teacher rad.; personal trainer Mark Jenkins; and guitar teacher Ray Fuller.

The long hours of training, practices and rehearsals lead up to a weekly live performance where the vocalists perform a song within their genre. They use all they have learned earlier in the week from the artist development team and face the immense pressures and anxieties of performing live in front of an audience. Throughout the show, viewers also get a first-hand look at the contestants' behind-the-scenes drama. Immediately following the performances, America can vote for their favorite contestant by phoning in, text messaging or voting online at abc.com.

The outcome is announced during a results show televised the following evening, with one contestant being eliminated each week. Emotions are high and drama ensues, as the experts and contestants themselves get to save two of the bottom three from elimination.
