Kerry Walker's Biography

Dr. Kerry Walker is Full Professor of Flute at Western Connecticut State University as well as Principal Flute with the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, Ives Festival Orchestra, Connecticut Little Symphony and Camerata New York. She performs with multiple chamber groups, including the Manhattan String Quartet, Prometheus, Ridge Winds, Dual Excursions, Madera Winds and the Walker/Woodruff Duo. Dr. Walker's degrees are from the University of Michigan, Bowling Green State University and Texas Tech University.

Dr. Walker's instructors have included Julius Baker (with whom she performed duo recitals in 1995 and 2000), Judith Bentley, Geoffrey Gilbert, Michael Stoune, Carl St. Clair and Robert Spano. She has performed under many reputable conductors, including Fennell, Revelli, Entremont, Schneider and Page. While maintaining her flute studio, Dr. Walker has directed the Julius Baker Master Classes for more than 20 years, held annually at Western Connecticut State University.

Dr. Walker is a Yamaha Performing Artist. Her flute and percussion CD, Dual Excursions, was released in 2004, and her CD American Chamber Works for Flute was released on Centaur Records in November 2017.
