Chris Fensom's Biography

Chris Fensom is active in the Charlotte, NC area as an orchestral and chamber musician and teacher. Chris has held positions and performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Dallas Symphony, the Charlotte Symphony, the Charleston Symphony (SC), and the Virginia Symphony. Chris has recorded and toured with many ensembles, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Eastman Wind Ensemble, and the Montreal Chamber Players.

He has studied with members of the Vienna Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra brass sections as part of the Pacific Music Festival in Japan. He was also able to spend a summer as part of the Fellowship program at the Tanglewood Music Festival. In touring, he has enjoyed many performances in the world’s finest concert halls, including New York's Carnegie Hall, Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center, as well as Tokyo's Suntory Concert Hall.

Prior to his orchestral engagements, Chris received his Bachelor's degree at McGill University in Montreal, studying with James Thompson, Robert Earley, and Charles Daval. He received his Master’s degree at the Eastman School of Music with a Performer's Certificate, studying with Barbara Butler and Charles Geyer. He serves as instructor of trumpet at Catawba College.
