Ballade No. 3 in A-flat major, Op. 47 - Gergely Boganyi

Uploaded On:  Wednesday June 6, 2012

The third ballade was composed between 1840 and 1841 and was dedicated to Mademoiselle Pauline de Noailles. There is quite a long introductory section before the main theme appears. It is a charming piece, quite different from the previous two ballades, and most resembles a dance. There is a darker, agitated middle section but concludes in a triumphant, elegant manner.--Recorded July 18, 2012; Newport Music Festival.
