NEW! The Works of Chopin and Paganini
2013 Newport Music Festival

The Casino Theater
9 Freebody Street
Newport, RI 02480

In this premiere broadcast of two performances from the 2013 Newport Music Festival, internationally renowned pianist Agustin Anievas captivates the audience with an all Chopin recital: Polonaise in C# Minor, Polonaise-Fantaisie in A Minor and Piano Sonata No. 3 in B Minor. Known for his specialization in the works of Frederic Chopin, Franz Liszt and Sergei Rachmaninoff, Anievas has received many honors and awards throughout his legendary career including the grand prize at the International Mitropoulos Competition. Following Anievas’ inspiring solo recital, premieres a collaborative performance featuring various artists performing works composed by celebrated violinist and composer Niccolo Paganini. Talented pianist Daniel del Pino, joined by cellist Jiri Barta, begins the performance with Bravura Variations on a Theme, from Rossini's Moses in Egypt. Then, Del Pino accompanies violinist Eugen Tzikindelean, as they perform I Palpiti (Heartbeats)—Introduction and Variations on the theme "Di tanti palpiti" from Rossini's Tancredi. Pianist Kevin Fitz-Gerald then joins violinist Grazia Raimondi performing Cantabile; and Fitz-Gerald finishes the show with a solo-performance playing The Celebrated "Witches Dance". These uncut, unedited performances were previously recorded on Monday, July 22, 2013 and Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the Casino Theater at the 2013 Newport Music Festival.
