Minneapolis, MN 55455

Pianists from around the world converged in Minneapolis, MN, in July 2019 to compete in the prestigious 2019 International e-Piano Junior Competition for more than $20,000 in cash and prizes. From an initial round of 25 contestants, the top five finalists vied for the grand prize; however, over the multi-day competition, there were many other outstanding performances as well.

This special rebroadcast features Third Prize winner Eric Guo of Canada. Eric, a Toronto native, started playing piano at the age of four and currently is a full-tuition scholarship recipient at The Taylor Academy of The Royal Conservatory. As a soloist, he performed with several orchestras such as Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of UK, Ural Youth Symphony Orchestra of Russia, Drummondville Orchestra and Oakville Orchestra of Canada, and others.

Among Eric’s accolades are 1st place awards in competitions such as 2018 11th Moscow Chopin International Competition for Young Pianists held in China, 2017 Kaufman International Piano Competition in NYC, and Grand Prize in 2016 Canadian Music Competition. Recently, he was 3rd Place winner in 2019 Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition. He was awarded the 2018 Canadian Chopin Scholarship.
