Yamaha Artist Gino Vanelli Dedicates a Tribute Video to a Fallen Soldier

NASHVILLE, TN. (Sept. 24, 2010) Yamaha Artist Gino Vannelli recently lent his musical talents for a cause close to his heart: to raise funds for a veterans memorial in honor of a fallen soldier from his community in Oregon. He captured a performance of his song “None so Beautiful as the Brave” on a Yamaha grand piano for a music video that he produced to bring awareness to the cause.

“I produced this video to raise funds for the Jeff Lucas Memorial Stadium, for scholarships and Constitutional studies and annual trips to Salem and Washington,” said Vannelli. “I also wanted to offer thanks to Jeff and his family. I have always admired the gallantry and willing sacrifice of these heroes.”

Lucas attended the same high school as Vannelli’s son. After graduating from Corbett High School in 1989, Lucas joined the Navy and ultimately achieved his lifelong dream to become a Navy SEAL. He reached the pinnacle of success in 2004 when he was named Navy SEAL of the year. He died in Afghanistan in June 2005 when his helicopter was struck by a grenade launcher.

The Jeff Lucas Memorial’s mission is to honor Jeff Lucas and others who have died in the service of the United States of America by building a lasting reminder and memorial to their sacrifice. A stadium grandstand and memorial has been built at Corbett High School, but funds are still needed to pay for the project. The Jeff Lucas Memorial also funds scholarships and Constitutional studies, including field trips to Washington and Salem, Oregon's capital city.
