Yamaha Drummer John Riley Releases New Instructional DVD

Hollywood, Calif. (March 10, 2009) — Yamaha Drummer John Riley has taught master classes around the world, and now he's sharing his skills to an even broader audience with the debut of his latest instructional DVD The Master Drummer — How to Practice, Play and Think Like a Pro. The renowned American jazz drummer who has played with Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz and Milt Jackson, among countless others, is sharing his straight-shooting teaching approach and deep historical insight while presenting concepts, strategies and exercises specifically designed to strengthen each aspect of music making.

"John is a multiple Grammy Award winning drummer who has been playing since he was 8 years old. His background as a player, teacher and author — his books The Art of Bop Drumming and Beyond Bop Drumming have been coveted by drummers around the world for years — is extensive and clearly establishes him as the perfect teacher for those wanting to advance their drum skills," comments Joe Testa, international artist relations manager for Yamaha Drums.

The Master Drummer, based on more than 40 years of observing and studying the master players, defines and explores the four key musical components drummers must develop in order to play at the highest level. The 2-hour DVD also includes an EBOOK containing all the exercises described in the DVD and nine play-along tracks to practice with. John's insightful approach will help any drummer grow, regardless of level or style, and will lead to positive results in the achievement of one's musical goals.
