Rodrigo Y Gabriela Sign Yamaha Advertising Agreement

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (Jan. 22, 2009) – Internationally acclaimed Mexican musical duo Rodrigo Y Gabriela have just signed on with Yamaha Guitars to promote the new NX series nylon string acoustic/electric guitars set to debut in early 2009.

Acoustic rock guitarists Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero have been evaluating prototypes of the NX guitars for the past year and were blown away with the sound and performance of the latest models built for them, which they used for 3 sold-out shows in Japan during the month of November. Known for their hard-to-define sound that straddles both world and rock and is often imbued with timeless Hispano-classical influences, the fast-fingered guitarists found their footing in Dublin, Ireland, quickly topping the charts there with their self-titled album in 2006, and have since found a loyal fan base worldwide.

"We're thrilled to work with Rodrigo y Gabriela – to have artists of such high caliber playing our instruments is truly an honor," comments Mike Tempesta, artist relations manager for Yamaha Guitars.

As part of a promotional agreement, the duo participated in a photo shoot and video shoots while they were in Japan. During one of the performances, Gabriela told the audience how much she would like to thank Yamaha for building them such great guitars and announced that they will be using the new NX series guitars from now on.

The duo recently released a live album and DVD titled Live In Japan, which captures the artists making their live Japanese debut at Tokyo's Duo club on March 30, 2008. The level of anticipation was so high from their Far East fan base that the show had been sold out for weeks. Live In Japan mixes tracks from Rodrigo y Gabriela's self-titled third album with older live favorites, and also includes the new track "OK Tokyo" as well as Rod and Gab's legendary solo jams recorded for the first time. Rodrigo y Gabriela are currently writing songs for their next studio album.
