Pioneering composer and electro-acoustic violist Martha Mooke is a Yamaha Artist and leading clinician on electric and progressive string playing, improvisation, and cultivating creative expression. She is in demand for her innovative educational programs, presenting at American String Teachers Association (ASTA), Jazz Education Network (JEN), National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), Midwest Clinic, and numerous Music Educators Association national and regional conferences. A recipient of the ASTA Kudos Award for "helping extend the boundaries in string music and education" she is endorsed by Composers and Schools in Concert and is a member of the Grammy Camp Basic Training (Grammy in the Schools) committee.
Mooke is founder and violist of the electro-acoustic Scorchio Quartet, featured on David Bowie’s Heathen album. A frequent collaborator with Philip Glass, she has toured with Barbra Streisand, Peter Gabriel, Damon Albarn, and Andrea Bocelli; and played with Elton John, Tony Bennett, Trey Anastasio, Lou Reed, Bon Jovi, and many others. She has received numerous awards from ASCAP, and released her solo album No Ordinary Window in 2014, produced by Grammy winner Cynthia Daniels.
