Marc Dicciani's Biography

Marc is the Director of the School of Music at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia and a Professor of Drumset and Music Business. He is also a very busy professional drummer and clinician with dozens of international concert dates and clinics throughout the year.

He has made concert appearances with a wide variety of artists, including jazz musicians Randy Brecker, Joey DeFrancesco, Jon Faddis, Robin Eubanks, Gerald Veasley; singers and entertainers such as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and many more. Marc has also performed with orchestras including the Boston Pops, the National Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Symphony, New Orleans Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, Honolulu Symphony, Edmonton Symphony, Jacksonville Symphony, Nashville Symphony, Hartford Symphony, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. He's performed on many television shows in Los Angeles for NBC, ABC, CBS, and Fox Networks, and on T.V., film, and jingle recording sessions. He has also recorded for Concord Records with guitarist Jimmy Bruno. He spent many years on world tours as drummer and musical director with entertainer Ben Vereen, with whom he continues to tour and perform internationally.

Marc has lectured, conducted clinics, and performed at countless colleges here and abroad and at conferences for the International Association of Jazz Educators, College Music Society, Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, New Jersey Music Educators, and at the Philadelphia Grammy in the Schools events.

He is a frequent adjudicator, and clinician at conventions and jazz festivals around the country, and he teaches the nation's only graduate drumset course for music educators at Villanova University each summer. He has been the Musical Director/Conductor for countless awards shows in Philadelphia, and played drums for two telecasts of the Golden Globe Awards in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. He joined the faculty and taught and performed at the KoSA International Drum and Percussion Camp and Festival in summer 2008, and recently completed his fifth instructional drum book on Contemporary Latin Drumming Styles.

At UArts, in addition to his work as Director of the School of Music, Marc teaches drumset and courses in music business to undergraduate and graduate students, directs an alternative percussion bucket drum ensemble and a Salsa Ensemble, and produces the annual high school jazz festival.

Marc has been with the Grammy organization (National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) for more than 25 years, as Philadelphia Board Member, Philadelphia Chapter President, and member of the National Board of Trustees.

Marc is a drumset artist/clinician for Vic Firth Drum Sticks, Yamaha Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Remo Drum Heads, Latin Percussion, MONO Cases, Music Molds, and writes for Modern Drummer Magazine, Drum Club Magazine, Planet Drum Webzine, Percussive Arts Society (PAS), and In-Concert magazines.
