Kathy Marvin has been a percussion instructor and clinician in Colorado for the past 16 years. Receiving the Fiske Scholarship, she studied with Terry Smith and Doug Walter at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Business from the University of Colorado, Denver.
Currently she is a percussion instructor at Northglenn High School, directs a middle school percussion ensemble, and has an active private lesson percussion studio. In the summer, she enjoys being a clinician for Yamaha Sounds of Summer camps. Her first one was in 1989 with Fred Sanford.
The Northglenn High School Percussion Ensemble has won numerous state marching band percussion titles, eight Rocky Mountain Percussion Association Winter Percussion titles, as well as WGI gold, silver and bronze medals under her instruction.
Along with her teaching, she also works with her family's on-location recording company where she handles CD production and sales.
She enjoys working with her husband, Dave Marvin, on coordinating the Denver Broncos Stampede, the first official NFL Drumline, which plays at every home game.
The Marvins' latest endeavor Party Crashers! includes two professional percussion ensembles, Bash! and Grooved Pavement. The non-stop energy and unique instrumentation of these groups has quickly changed the entertainment landscape in Denver.
When she finds spare time, she enjoys hiking, mountain biking and making music with her daughter, Chandler, and her son, Taylor.
