Frank Catalano is the youngest saxophonist ever voted into the Down Beat Critics Poll. At age 26, he has performed and recorded with Tony Bennett, Louie Bellson, Charles Earland, Ira Sullivan, Tito Puente, David Sanborn, Betty Carter, members of N'Sync and Blue Man Group, Les Claypool, John Medeski, DJ Logic, and others.
Frank has three critically acclaimed CDs on the Delmark label which include tracks with Von Freeman and Randy Brecker. Frank has a Bachelors Degree in Classical Composition from DePaul University in Chicago and has had a master class published in Downbeat Magazine. As both a Yamaha and Vandoren endorsee, Frank hosts clinics throughout the country. As a spokesperson for Vandoren, he is featured in international advertising campaigns.
Frank's numerous accomplishments include: Receiving a patent for a Keyboard/Saxophone attachment he invented, Grammy Nomination, Downbeat Magazine's International Critics Poll, CMJ Top Ten Radio Poll, Jazziz Radio Poll, Cadence Record Poll, LA Weekly Top Ten Jazz Artists of the Year, and considered a top young artist by Chicago Tribune, Chicago Suntimes, JazzTimes, RollingStone.com, Metromix.com, and Illinois Entertainer.
Frank's A440 Music Group debut includes his bow as a vocalist and includes guest DJs and loops. His follow-up album is a duet project with Jimmy Chamberlin of Smashing Pumpkins/Zwan fame and includes the debut of Frank's recently patented multisax instrument. Frank is an active music/jazz educator and he is a Performing Artist for Yamaha and Vandoren.
