Drew Shanefield's Biography

Drew Shanefield is the Brass Designer and Caption Supervisor for the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps. He has been a Yamaha Performing Artist since 2002. He has spent his career in education as an instrumental music teacher in the Haverford Township School District in Pennsylvania and as a former member of the music faculty at Swarthmore College.

Drew's drum corps experience began as a member of The Cadets from 1988-1991. He then served as an instructor and was co-brass caption head for the Cadets in 1995, brass caption head for Carolina Crown in 1997 and brass caption head for the Cavaliers from 1998-2000. From 2002-2006, Drew served as a program consultant for the Cavaliers. In addition, Drew was the brass arranger for the Crossmen in 2004 and 2005 and was the program coordinator for the Bluecoats from 2006-2008. In 2009, he returned to the Cavaliers design team as the arranger through 2015.

Drew graduated from New York University in 1992 and received a master's degree in music education from Queens College, a master's degree in music performance from West Chester University and a doctoral degree in higher education from Widener University. He is a member of ASCAP and an active composer, clinician and adjudicator across the country. His educational compositions are published by Neil A. Kjos Music Company, Northeastern Music Publications and Marching Show Concepts/Center X Productions. Drew and his family reside in suburban Philadelphia.
