Jeff Rupert

Jeff Rupert's Biography

Jeff Rupert is a Yamaha performing artist, and enjoys a career as a freelance tenor saxophonist. He is also a full professor and Director of Jazz Studies at UCF and the founder of Flying Horse Records.

Rupert's numerous recordings as a featured soloist include appearances with Diane Schuur, Mel Torme, Benny Carter's Grammy winning recording, Harlem Renaissance (Music Masters), Sam Rivers, Maynard Ferguson, and his own quartet recordings, Jeff Rupert, Jeff Rupert + Dirty Martini, and Jeff Rupert & Kenny Drew Jr's From Memphis to Mobile on Random Act Records.

Jeff is a long time member of Sam Rivers' band, credited with a performance and recording for Ed Bradley's Jazz from Lincoln Center broadcast on National Public Radio. Jeff's busy tour schedule includes performances in Europe, Scandinavia, Japan, the Middle East, South America, Australia, Brazil, and New Zealand. Jeff has been a featured soloist at numerous jazz festivals throughout the world, including the Montreaux Jazz Festival and Chicago Blues Festival. Jeff's performance schedule includes concerts with Ernestine Anderson, Kevin Mahogany, Benny Green, Ray Drummond, and Joe Farnsworth. In addition, Jeff was a member of the Jaguar International Jazz Series with Joe La Barbera, Larry Koonse, John Fedchock, and Tom Warrington.

Rupert founded The Jazz Professors whose latest recording on Flying Horse Records charted for seventeen weeks and peaked in the top twenty.
