Ryan Anthony joined the Dallas Symphony Orchestra as guest principal trumpet in 2004 after leaving the world-renowned quintet Canadian Brass. Mr. Anthony began playing full-time with DSO in 2006 in an interim position and won the full-time position of Principal Trumpet in 2008. As a soloist, Mr. Anthony's career started at the young age of 16 years old when he won the highly publicized Seventeen Magazine/General Motors Concerto Competition. He continues to win over audiences and critics with his charismatic performances and artistic finesse. Reviews have said, "In his hands, the horn gets beyond the stereotype to become a mouthpiece for the composer's voice and performer's personality" (Memphis Commercial Appeal) and "There must be other trumpet players in this world as fine as Ryan Anthony, but you'd never think so while listening to him play" (Fanfare Magazine). Mr. Anthony's career as a guest soloist with symphony orchestras has spanned over 20 states, including the Cleveland Orchestra, Detroit Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Dallas Symphony and regional orchestras including IRIS Chamber Orchestra, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Winston-Salem, Portland, Springfield and Dayton Symphonies to name a few. Mr. Anthony's chamber career was highlighted in 2000 by joining Canadian Brass, succeeding the legendary trumpeter Ronald Romm. After serving as a leader within the group until 2003, Mr. Anthony once again joined the ranks with Canadian Brass as part of the "Dream Team" in the summer of 2006 and has since appeared in additional performances and recordings with the famed group. Other groups with which he has recorded as a member include the Center City Brass Quintet, Burning River Brass and The Brass Band of Battle Creek. In 2007, Ryan was invited to represent North America in the recording Proclamations with the newly formed International Celebrity Trumpet Ensemble, made up of other principal trumpet players across Europe and England. In 2009, Mr. Anthony was asked to reunite with friend and Yamaha colleague Jens Lindemann to be a forming member of the All-Star Brass Quintet. The chamber duo 'Anthony & Beard', with Gary Beard on organ and piano, keeps an active schedule expanding the repertoire for trumpet and organ in a fun show that has been winning audiences over throughout this country as well appearances in Russia and Canada.
