Yamaha Artist and longtime Disklavier champion JB Floyd recently released his most recent album, Another Time and Place, a compilation of original compositions and performances spanning his extraordinary 30-year career. Floyd's longtime affiliation with Yamaha, and especially with the Disklavier, is a clear theme throughout the Mutable Music release, with tracks like "Solos and Sequences I and II, and "Prince of Pentacles" for Yamaha and the Buchla Electronic Music System. The CD's title track, performed with Doug Floyd, combines Disklavier both with virtual instruments and with live percussion.

JB Floyd was composing at the age of 12 in the style of boogie-woogie emulations of the great pianists, Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons, whose recordings were somehow available to him at the time even in the backwoods of East Texas. Following always his interests in both classical and jazz genres, Floyd emerged as a formidable performer in both paths of musical expression and also developed his own voice as a composer bridging both styles.

"An inquisitive musician, clearly familiar with a broad spectrum of jazz history and the classical repertoire, Floyd responds to digital options yet remains vigorously committed to the grand piano's core sound." Julian Cowley, Wire Magazine, February, 2012

Floyd's other recordings of his original music are also on the Mutable Music label and include, "A Transporting Transmittance", "In Crossing The Busy Street" and with fellow Yamaha Artist, David Rosenboom, "Suitable For Framing" for 2 pianos and South Indian Mrdangam.
