ANAHEIM, Calif.—Yamaha Corporation of America, Band and Orchestral Division, will showcase its 500 Series xylophones featuring the YX-500F model made from Acoustalon and the YX-500R constructed with Rosewood at Winter NAMM 2010. The 500 Series xylophones replace the YX-135 Acoustalon and the YX-500 Rosewood xylophones.

The YX-500F xylophone comes with two-position resonator slots and features graduated bars for consistent tone quality throughout the range of the instrument. Its gas shock height adjustment frame allows easy, effortless adjustment by the player. Offering a full, authentic wood sound with graduated bars, the YX-500R in Rosewood features a lower crossbar with an angled brace and locking casters to aid in stability during performance and practice.

"Once again, Yamaha product designers have managed to take an already fantastic product and improve it, pushing the envelope to promote a brighter sound and projection," said Troy Wollwage, marketing manager, Yamaha Percussion. "With the addition of an easy to use gas-spring height-adjustment system and a wider bar size, the 500 Series xylophones have been designed to meet the needs for percussionists at all levels."

Both xylophone models come with a cover and are available with a soft care, Multi-Frame II or Tough-Terrain Frame. They will be available in June 2010.
