Designed with input from The Chicago Symphony's John Hagstrom, the new cornet uses a trumpet mouthpiece receiver and features an overall design derived from the Yamaha "Chicago" model C trumpet, including the use of the MC1 leadpipe taper, facilitating an unprecedented ease of transition between trumpet and cornet.

"With more conductors requiring the use of cornet in standard orchestral repertoire, the YCR-9435 is an ideal instrument to fit the needs of today's professional brass player," says Kurt Witt, marketing manager, Yamaha Wind Instruments. "This cornet will give orchestral trumpet players a new level of flexibility to meet the increasing and varying demands of the current orchestral cornet repertoire."

The YCR-9435 custom cornet is currently available.
