Build sound relationships with suppliers

We aim to build sound supplier relationships through the valuing of mutual understanding and trust with suppliers.

Legal compliance

We comply with the laws of all countries and areas in which we conduct transactions.

Appropriate pricing and quality, and reliable purchasing

We seek to improve our knowledge of the products we purchase, conduct market research, and endeavor to excel through superior products and suppliers. We make consistent purchases at the appropriate price and level of quality through the creation of supplier selection criteria for purchasing.

We conduct procurement activities in consideration of environmental aspects and social aspects including human rights issues. We also seek our suppliers to comply with "Yamaha Supplier CSR Code of Conduct" as defined separately.

Yamaha Supplier CSR Code of Conduct

Supplier Selection Standards

The Yamaha Group opens its doors to suppliers from around the world, applying the following standards comprehensively in the selection and evaluation of suppliers as business partners.

Quality

Suppliers should have a quality assurance system in place and be able to guarantee suitable levels of quality and safety. Moreover, suppliers should be able to provide a comprehensive level of service after purchase to address any problems such as product liability.

Delivery timing

Suppliers should be able to meet scheduled delivery times, address manufacturing changes flexibly, and reduce lead times.

Price

Suppliers should consistently provide market-competitive pricing.

Communication

Suppliers should be able to build relationships with Yamaha that ensure the precise and prompt provision of information and responses between both parties.

Management

Suppliers should possess sound management status, and have social credibility.

Technology

Suppliers should be able to offer improvement proposals through VA/VE activities, including development of new materials and new technology.

Legal compliance

Suppliers should be in compliance with the laws and provisions, ordinances, and social norms of each relevant country and region.

CSR initiatives

Suppliers should work toward management that gives sufficient consideration to human rights, health and safety, the environment, fair trade, quality, safety, information security, and social contribution.

Combating conflict minerals

Mineral resources such as tin, tantalum, tungsten, gold and others mined in the Republic of the Congo and neighboring countries are called "conflict minerals" as they may be the source of funds for armed groups violating human rights through inhumane acts including violence and plunder. Aiming to procure minerals that play no part in the violation of human rights or environmental destruction, Yamaha promotes efforts to stop the use of conflict minerals. To satisfy clients who demand that we investigate the sources of raw materials, Yamaha promotes initiatives for Yamaha’s suppliers to avoid the use of conflict minerals based on the Yamaha Supplier CSR Code of Conduct.
