Yamaha's biomass-derived resin recorder uses a material both good for the earth and excellent for making music,
Toray's polylactic acid resin Ecodear®. With a solid, mellow tone and superior response similar to a wooden recorder, the recorder features improved playability, making relatively difficult high notes easier.
The color scheme of the instrument takes its inspiration from maize and sugarcane which provide the ingredients for polylactic acid, while that of the case is inspired by plant leaves.
