Grand Piano/Early 1900s

[ Image ] Serial No.1022

Just two years after the completion of Yamaha's first upright piano, the company completed its first grand piano in 1902 thanks to the efforts of a great many skilled technicians. An early-model Yamaha piano was exhibited at the World’s Fair held in St. Louis in the United States in 1904, becoming the first musical instrument made in Japan to receive an award overseas.

This piano was made soon after Yamaha began production of grand pianos. The soundboard features an engraving of the Medal with Green Ribbon awarded to Yamaha founder Torakusu Yamaha in March 1904.
