The bows that the president of Yamaha of the time encountered in his sojourn in the USA were made of FRP. They appeared to have so much potential that they might alter the future for industrial products, and in 1958 Yamaha began research into FRP.
In 1961, the company began making and selling archery equipment, exporting first to the USA—the main market— and then Europe.
