CD-R, CD-RW Playback
More and more people these days are using their computers or digital recorders to make their own CD-R and CD-RW discs. Yamaha CD players and changers are capable of playing these discs.
Gracenote
The ability to navigate and organize large music collections is largely dependent on accurately identifying and categorizing songs, albums and artists that it contains. Gracenote MusicID™ is the essential ingredient for digital media recognition of CDs, digital music files and streaming audio. With the most comprehensive database of music recordings in the world, the Gracenote Media Database contains more than 55 million tracks and 4 million CDs.
MP3
Short for MPEG-1 layer 3 audio, MP3 is a compression process used to shrink audio files by filtering out all noise that is not detectable to the human ear. MP3 is considered near CD-quality, but the file itself occupies approximately one tenth to one twelfth the space of the original CD format, making it the perfect medium for today’s smaller, memory based portable media players.
Network Receiver
Using a local area network (LAN) connection and Windows Media Connect technology ver.2 or better, Yamaha Network enabled receivers allow you to play MP3, WMA and WAV music from up to fifteen (15) PC’s. The receiver can even be used as a client for Yamaha’s MusicCAST home music server, seamlessly integrating with the MCX-2000 digital audio server within your LAN. The Network Receiver also provides the ability to listen to any of the thousands of stations available on Internet radio when connected to a broadband Internet connection. By using the included MP3 vTuner data service that is enabled, looking for content on the Internet couldn’t be easier, from your favorite Rock, Pop, or R&B to Podcasts that cater to your music interests. With a USB terminal on the front panel you now have a convenient way to play music from USB flash drives and portable USB music players. Yamaha Network Receivers get you connected to the vast music content available anywhere on your LAN and on the web.
