Setup FAQs:
- Q: How can I find the remote IR input on my TV as well as other components?
A: Having the neoHD control other components is one of the main benefits of the neoHD systems. In order to do this, you will need to connect one of the supplied IR flashers into either REMOTE CONTROL OUT 1 or 2 on the back of the neoHD. Then place one of the IR flashers near the remote control sensors of your TV and each of the source components.
The remote control sensors of the TV and source components can be found on the front of each device and typically have a circular shape. They can sometimes be located inside of the LCD screen on the device. If you are unable to locate the IR sensor of your device, try shining a flashlight at an angle, across the front panel and you should be able to see the circular IR receiver. You may also have to try placing the IR flasher on various locations on the front of the device to see where the IR flasher works best.
If you are still unable to find the remote control sensor of a specific component, please see the owner’s manual of the source component for additional help.
For additional info, please see page 8 of the neoHD owner’s manual.
- Q: How do I obtain additional IR flashers?
A: If you need more IR flashers to use with the neoHD, you can order them directly from the Yamaha Shop Online store. The part number for extra IR flashers is YIR-E100.
- Q: Is there a REMOTE CONTROL IN jack on the neoHD?
A:Yes, the REMOTE CONTROL IN jack can be used if you would like to connect a commercially available IR receiver to this unit even if it is concealed in a cabinet or other out of the way location. Just make sure that you place the IR receiver within sight of your sitting position.
- Q: How to set up the neoHD using the Initial Setup wizard?
A: The Initial Setup wizard offers easy step-by-step instructions to help you properly set up the neoHD.
The wizard offers everything from speaker setup to remote control programming. It makes setup simple and straightforward.
The Initial Setup consists of two parts. The first part is the Auto Speaker Setup (Yamaha’s YPAO system): using a small microphone and sophisticated equalization, the system automatically sets the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. Everything is analyzed from the room acoustics to speaker wiring, ensuring maximum performance from the neoHD system. What’s more, when a 2.1-channel speaker configuration is detected, YPAO has the capability to automatically activate AIR SURROUND XTREME, which is an optimized mode for 2.1-channel use.
The next part is the Source Device Setup: neoHD contains an extensive IR code database for various AV devices, all built in and ready to use. The Initial Setup wizard guides users through usually complicated remote programming procedures, making device setup quick and easy. In the event an IR code is not available, the Initial Setup wizard can assist users with learning the IR codes as well.
For additional info, please see page 10 of the neoHD owner’s manual.
- Q: How can I set up the Favorite Channels?
A:You can store up to 8 favorite TV channels and recall them by selecting the corresponding buttons on the virtual remote control.
To set up the Favorite Channels on the neoHD, navigate to Setup > Remote Control > TV Favorite >Preset Channels. From there the keys for the TV Favorite functions are displayed on the virtual remote control when Cable, Satellite/DSS, or DVR is selected as the type of the source device. Select “Fav” and the station name you registered.

To set up the HDMI Standby Through feature on the neoHD, navigate to Setup > Option > HDMI Standby Through
