Just Introduced are the latest upgrades improve the performance of the MusicCAST system by adding great new features to your existing MusicCAST system:

Recall Play

Recall the playback information from a source MusicCAST server or client and start playback on the destination component according to the playback information.

 

Broadcast (party mode)

Broadcast the songs played back on the MusicCAST server to the selected MusicCAST clients.

 

Function keys

Assign the selected MusicCAST server function to each function key to use as a shortcut key.

 

Additional controllable Yamaha AV receivers

The list for the controllers of Yamaha AV receivers that can be used with the MusicCAST server is updated.

 

Additional function for CD Auto Store

If the MusicCAST server finds more than one applicable entry in the Gracenote CDDB when using CD Auto Store, you can select the entry you think is correct.

 

Lock Function

Protect settings with a password to prevent unauthorized access.

 

Browser Edit function

Edit library items using a Web browser on a computer.

 

Updating album information

Retrieve album information (song names, artist names, etc) from the Gracenote CDDB for CDs stored in your library.


Creating playlists from bookmarks

Operate your MusicCAST server to create playlists from the bookmarks of the MusicCAST server or MusicCAST clients.


Date/Time setting

The setup menu has been separated into two menus (auto/manual) to improve ease of use. Also, you can now switch between 12-hour and 24-hour time display formats.


Resetting data or settings individually

Reset song statistics, network settings, or Function key assignments individually.

 

Editing tuner preset station names

Edit tuner preset station names displayed on the MusicCAST server connected to a controllable Yamaha AV receiver.


Displaying client names in the PCM client setting screen

The PCM client setting screen shows the list of client names for easy selection. Formerly, you had to select a PCM playback client by its ID number.


Displaying pop-up screens

The MusicCAST server displays a pop up completion screen when CD storing or creation is complete, and a pop up selection screen when the MusicCAST server finds more than one relevant entry in the Gracenote CDDB database while retrieving album information.

 

Client backlight

Press any button other than SELECT on the MusicCAST client to light up the display panel when it is in sleep mode. This feature is useful when checking the clock in the dark.

 

Quick access to library items (Jump function)

Search for library items (song names, artist names, etc) by specifying an initial letter.

 

Retrieving Gracenote CDDB information for multiple albums simultaneously

Automatically detect albums that have no album information song names, artist names, etc) from the library and retrieve album information from the Gracenote CDDB® for those albums.

 

Setting the HDD recording/ CD creation parameters temporarily

Set the HDD recording/CD creation parameters temporarily without changing the default settings. The temporary settings apply only to the current HDD recording/CD creation and automatically return to their default settings after the current operation.

 

Recording all tracks on a CD as a single song (Combination recording)

Enjoy a smooth and seamless transition between tracks during playback by recording all tracks on a CD as a single song. (available only from the Temporary Settings screen.)

 

Saving a library item list as a text file

Save a library item list to your computer as a text file (CSV format file). Once you save a file, you can open it with other applications to check the content or print it using a printer connected to your computer.


Screen saver function

Displays moving image on the screen of your TV or monitor
connected to the MusicCAST server or client after a specified period of time elapses without operations.


Change in the FAVORITES function

The procedure to assign a favorite function to a FAVORITES button has been changed. (FAVORITES function: see page 23 of the MCX-C15 Owner’s Manual)


Change in the Lock function

As a result of the addition of the temporary setting function for CD creation, “REC parameters” has been deleted from the Recording (Make a CDR/RW) menu in the Lock function.


Improved scroll function

• A rapid scroll function has been added to the MusicCAST client. Press and hold u/d to scroll rapidly when displaying library items.
• A loop structure (end-to-beginning transition) has been added to the library item list. When selecting a library item on the MusicCAST server or client, you can move the cursor
from the first item to the last one by pressing u and from the last one to the first one by pressing d.


Improved Top Menu

• In the Top Menu of the MusicCAST server, “AV Receiver” appears only when a Yamaha AV receiver is connected the MusicCAST server.
• In the Top Menu screen of the MusicCAST client, “Play” (menu to display the library) has been replaced with the new name “Library” (same as the MusicCAST server).


Improved display function

• Press MENU twice on a MusicCAST client to display clock when it is in the power on mode.
• The display backlight turns off when the OFF Timer function is set on a MusicCAST client.


Improved YAMAHA AV link technology

If you set “Zone2” when registering the Yamaha AV receiver for YAMAHA AV link technology, the power to the YAMAHA AV receiver connected to the Music CAST client is controlled by IR flasher signals from the client (not available on some models).


Extended IR/RS-232C control function

Extended control functions great for interfacing with custom controllers and interface devices by prodiving direct access to key control functions.

 

New languages for the PS/2 keyboard language setting

“Italy” and “Spanish” have been added to the PS/2 keyboard language setting.

 

Setting the display language

Set the display language used on the MusicCAST server or clients. You can select English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish as necessary.

 

Setting network security parameters

Turn off wireless LAN access to strengthen network security. Also, you can set the Stealth mode to keep ESSID private or MAC address filter to protect the MusicCAST system from unauthorized access through wireless LAN.
