Frequently Asked Questions
Burning a CD-R/RW

Q.

Some songs can't be burned to a CD-R/RW.

A.

If the songās data format is MP3 only, the MusicCAST server can't burn them to CDR/RWs.

Q.

Why is the data on the HDD erased after copied to a CD-R from the HDD?

A.

This unit is a digital device that complies with the SCMS standards. If you copied a commercially available CD on the HDD, the data copied on the HDD is considered to be the first-generation digital copy and further digital copying is not permitted.
However, this unit makes it possible to digitally copy the first-generation digital copy on a CD-R by adopting the "digital move" method.
With this method, the data on the HDD will be erased as copied on a CD-R/RW. As a result, the first-generation digital copy on a CD-R/RW is considered to be just "moved" and this operation still meets the SCMS standards. We call this operation "digital move" from the idea that the data is moved.

Q.

Does the "digital move" delete both PCM and MP3 data?

A.

Yes.

Q.

Can I copy a CD that has been created on a PC?

A.

If it was created as an audio CD, it can be copied as long as it meets SCMS standards just like other commercially available CDs, or CD-R discs that can be copied on this unit.
However data CDs for PC cannot be copied.

Q.

The burned CD-R has an unexpected album title in its CD-TEXT.

A.

The album title of the burned CD-R/RWs becomes the same one of the first track of the source album. The MucicCAST server chooses it automatically.

Q.

Can I turn off the CD-TEXT writing to CD-R/RWs?

A.

No.
