Frequently Asked Questions
Recording from External Input

Q.

At what bit rate does this unit make analog recordings?

A.

Analog recording is made at 16 bits because PCM format for recording on the HDD is fixed at 16 bits. This unit is equipped with a 24-bit A/D converter and actually records the upper 16 bits.

Q.

Is the data recorded at the same rate as the one for signals inputted into the digital input jacks?

A.

With the assumption that data will be written on a CD-R disc, sampling frequency rate is fixed at 44.1kHz. All the input signals will be recorded after the sampling frequency rate for input signals are converted to 44.1kHz by the SRC (sampling rate converter). Compatible sampling frequency rates are 32kHz, 44.1kHz, 48kHz and 96kHz.

Q.

I have recorded from the external input, but it doesn't appear in the "Library".

A.

The recorded materials from the external input is stored under "Recorded Songs" menu on "External Inputs" library. You can move them to "Artists", "Albums" or "Genres". If you want, press the "SUB MENU" key in the menu and follow the pop-up menu.

Q.

I can't move the recorded song from external input to the "Songs" on the "Library".

A.

If time length of the song is under 4 minutes, you can't move it to the library.

Q.

Sometimes "REC type : SYNCRO" doesn't work well.

A.

Automatic track marking depends on the source. Please use manual track marking.

Q.

How long is the maximum time of a track?

A.

99 minute 59 seconds.

Q.

When I record from external inputs using the timer function, the recorded time length is inaccurate.

A.

"MusicCAST software Version Up Disc Vol.1" corrects this problem.
