Q.
Can
the MusicCAST system transfer data from an access point to
another access point?
A.
No.
CORRECT example

MusicCAST components and an access
point can communicate with each other.
INCORRECT
example

If you insert two access points between
MusicCAST components, they can't communicate with each
other.
Q.
I can't set up the
same WEP key with my access point to a MusicCAST client.
A.
There are two methods
to enter the WEP key into an access point. One is 'ASCII'
type and the other is 'HEX' type. The MusicCAST components
support 'ASCII' type only.
Please enter it using the 'ASCII' method.
If your access point supports only
'HEX' method, please try the following sequence:
- Enter new WEP key to
the MusicCAST client by 'ASCII' mode.
- 'HEX' type WEP key is
displayed in the same screen of the client. Please memorize
it.
- Enter the memorized 'HEX'
type in the access point.

Q.
I am using the DHCP
service on MusicCAST server, and added my new PC to the network.
But the PC can't obtain an IP Address.
A.
It's normal.
The DHCP service on the MusicCAST server distributes IP Addresses
to the MusicCAST clients only.
Q.
Which is better;
to use the DHCP service on the MusicCAST server or on a router?
A.
The router is a
better choice.
The DHCP service on the MusicCAST server distributes IP Addresses
to the MusicCAST clients only.
Q.
I am using the DHCP
service on MusicCAST server, and 7 MusicCAST clients. When
I replace a client, it can't obtain the IP Address.
A.
In this case, when
you replace a client, please turn off the power on other clients.
Then try again.
The DHCP service on the MusicCAST server distributes only
7 IP Addresses. So the new client can't obtain one. But if
you turn off the others, the new client can obtain an IP Address.
Q.
Are there any appliances
which might interfere with the MusicCAST's wireless network?
A.
Possibly microwave ovens and cordless telephones.
Q.
When
a MusicCAST client is playing back with the server via the
wireless network, the 'Network Error' message appeared on
the LCD display and the playback was suspended.
A.
Some
RF interference occurred.
If it is a temporary problem, you can restart the playback
by pressing PLAY key. (You might have to press STOP key before
PLAY key.)
But
if you experience frequent errors, it is probably caused by
a bad environment for RF communication. To make it better,
please try to do following:
- Try to change the location in which MusicCAST
server or client is placed.
- To increase the distance between MucicCAST components
and some interfering
appliances. The distance should be at least 6 feet.
- To connect via wired
network (using CAT-5 cable and a Hub).

Q.
My MusicCAST server
is connected to the Internet, but it does not seem to be connecting
with the CDDB database on the Internet.
A.
Please confirm
the 'Use Internet database' check box is checked. It is located
in the 'Gracenote CDDB' menu under 'System Setup'.
If it is correct, please check
your network settings of the server, IP Address, Subnet mask,
Gateway, and DNS server.
