Yamaha Artists Collaborate across States with RemoteLesson

Technology unites teachers and students many miles apart

PianoSonoma, founded by Yamaha Artists and Juilliard School faculty members Michael and Jessica Shinn takes place each year at the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University in California. More than 1,000 miles away, Yamaha Artist Anne-Marie McDermott is the Artistic Director of the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival. This year, students in Sonoma had the opportunity to participate in a RemoteLesson taught be McDermott (in Denver) to students onstage at the Green Center’s Schroeder Hall. Students ranged from exceptionally talented high school pianists to adult amateurs to graduate students in music. All were able to experience the teaching of one of the country’s finest concert pianists without leaving their home stage.
