Biography

There was never a time when Matthew Jordan didn’t want to play piano and sing.

Taking lessons by the age of six, writing songs by twelve, gigging professionally by sixteen, and by twenty-one, a graduate of USC’s prestigious Thornton School of Music.

With edgy rock piano grooves, radio-friendly hooks a la Gavin DeGraw, Sara Bareilles, & Ben Folds, and lyrics that evoke shades of Jason Mraz and Jackson Browne, Matthew's songs appeal to all different generations of music lovers.

Some know him from his starring role in the timeless Five For Fighting music video, "100 Years". Others remember his appearance on the Vanessa Carlton episode of MTV "Duets". And many have heard his music on shows such as MTV's "Made" and "True Life" or TLC's "Candy Queen" and "What Not To Wear".

Jordan’s most recent releases include his latest EP,Our Time, and the urban-pop single "Oxygen" featuring Grammy-winning rap artist Whitney Peyton.

Matthew regularly performs at jam-packed clubs and venues all over Southern California including Witzend, The Hotel Cafe, and Genghis Cohen. When on the road, he frequents clubs like Uncommon Ground in Chicago and The Bitter End in NYC. Jordan's most recent releases include his newest EP, Our Time, and the urban-pop single "Oxygen" featuring Grammy-winning rap artist Whitney Peyton.

In addition to his own music, Matthew Jordan frequently works with other artists and singers as a musical director, keyboard player, back-up vocalist and producer.

The long list of talented artists that MJ has worked with includes Kaya Stewart (Warner Bros Records; daughter of Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics), Nina & Randa (YouTube sensations) and Jaq Mackenzie (American Idol).

Most frequently, you can find Matthew performing alongside Disney starSabrina Carpenter (Hollywood Records). Carpenter is a regular on the hit Disney Channel show "Girl Meets World", and at the young age of 16 has already released one EP ("Can't Blame a Girl For Trying") and a full-length album ("Eyes Wide Open").

As Sabrina’s musical director and keyboardist, Jordan has performed all over the country as well as internationally. The band has also performed on National TV numerous times, on morning shows such as "Fox and Friends", YTV's "Summer Beach Bash" in Canada, the recent Christmas special "Radio Disney’s Family Holiday", and the 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards.

In 2014, Matthew was welcomed into the Yamaha family as an officially endorsed artist. He's been playing Yamaha keyboards for over 15 years, and is thrilled to represent the brand, playing his CP4 stage piano and Motif XF-6 at many gigs across the country.
