Copying Part of a Pattern
Motif ES has to ability to cut small parts of any pattern track and paste it to any other track, or a track of its own. It can copy whole Pattern Tracks as well, but it can also a small segment of a track. For this example:
Say a two measure guitar lick on track 2 was extremely well done, and the desire now is to copy and paste it to track 6 to use as a rhythm guitar part.

Press [PATTERN]
Press [F4] 'Patch' and make a note of the User Phrase that is assigned to Track 2.
Press [6] (to select track 6)
Press [JOB]
Press [F3] Event
Select job 02: Copy Event
Press [ENTER]
Specify the following:

Source = Phrase XXX MMM:1:000 MMM+1:4:479 (where XXX = the phrase you noted above and MMM is the measure in that patch that is the start of your part to be copied)
Destination = 001:1:000
Number Of Times = x01

Press [ENTER]
Press [INC/YES]
