Synthesizer Workstations
Remote Control Setup for Audio with a Motif6/7/8 and Cubase SX
NOTE: Make sure the Motif is updated to the latest software version (Operating System Version 1.70 or higher). Make sure the computer is updated with the latest Motif USB driver (Motif USB Update Version 1.10 or higher).
Setting up the Motif:

Press the [UTILITY] button.
Press the [F5] 'MIDI' button.
Press the [SF4] 'OTHER' button.
Set 'MIDI IN/OUT' to 'USB'.
Press the [SF2] 'SWITCH' button.
Set 'LocalCtrl' to 'off'.
Press the [F4] 'CTLASN' button.
Press the [SF4] 'REMOTE' button.
Dial 'Cubase' for the Remote Template Type.
Press the [ENTER] button.
Press the [EXIT] button.
Press the [SONG] or [PATTERN] button.
Press the [REMOTE CONTROL ON/OFF] button to make the LED blink.
Setting up Cubase SX:

Select the 'Devices' menu from the menu bar.
Select 'Device Setup' from the menu drop-down list.
Click on the 'Setup' tab.
Click on 'Generic Remote'.
Click the drop-down arrow button on the 'MIDI Input' drop-down list box.
Select 'YAMAHA USB IN x-3 from the drop-down list.
Click the drop-down arrow button on the 'MIDI Output' drop-down list box.
Select 'YAMAHA USB OUT x-3 from the drop-down list.
Click the [IMPORT] button.
Browse to the file, 'Yamaha MOTIF Remote' on the 'Tools for Motif6/Motif7/Motif8' CD ROM, and select it.
Click the [OPEN] button.
Click the [OK] button.
Select the 'File' menu from the menu bar.
Select 'New Project' from the menu drop-down list.
Select '24 Track Audio Recorder' from the 'New Project' window.
Click the [OK] button.
Select the computer hard drive (usually 'C:').
Click the [OK] button.
Select the 'Devices' menu from the menu bar.
Select 'Mixer 2' from the menu drop-down list. The Control Silders of the Motif will now control the faders of the Cubase audio mixer, and the (KN1) knob (in conjunction with the Motif Track Select buttons) will now control the pan setting of each channel on the Cubase audio mixer.
