Converting MIDI Files from a Korg i30 to a Tyros
A MIDI file created on a Korg i30 has a Bank MSB number at the beginning of almost every track. This number varies, but quite often 'silences' corresponding tracks on Yamaha XG intruments. See the steps below for solutions.Method 1 - Change all Bank MSB Numbers to '0' using an External Sequencer:
-
Using a MIDI sequencer or MIDI sequencing program, open the original Korg i30 song file.
On each track, change the value of the very first Bank MSB number to '0' (zero).
Method 2 - Change all Bank MSB Numbers to '0' using the Tyros Sequencer:
-
On the Tyros, select the desired Song.
Press the [DIGITAL RECORDING] button.
Press the [A] 'SONG CREATOR' button.
Use the [BACK] and [NEXT] buttons to select the '1-16' page in the screen.
Press the [F] 'CH' button to select a desired Channel (track).
If 'Bank MSB' appears at the top, change the number on its immediate left to '0'.
EXAMPLE: On track 13 of a song, the first line might read: 000:1:0000 Ctrl 0 56 Bank MSB
The '56' would need to be changed to '0'.
NOTE:If this data does not appear on any of the Tracks of the Tyros, press the [H] 'FILTER' button and make sure that 'SYSTEM EXCLUSIVE MESSAGE (F0)' has check MARK next to it.
Repeat steps 5 - 6 for the remaining 15 Tracks if necessary.
Once all Tracks have been changed, save the Song.
